M Social Paris Opera has opened its doors!

Ooh La La!
Singapore-Grown
Brand M Social
Says Bonjour
To The
City Of Lights

Salut! Singapore-grown brand M Social, which has made waves with its openings around the world, has made its grand debut in the City of Lights – Paris, France – marking its first outpost in Europe.

M Social Paris Opera opened its doors on 9 September, offering Parisians and travellers a glimpse into the decadent Roaring Twenties within the comforts of today’s modern world. Formerly Millennium Hotel Paris Opera, the hotel has undergone a vibrant €5.4 million rebrand, adding a touch of contemporary design, vibrant art and inviting rooms to the elegance of historical Parisian lifestyle.

An enchanting retreat for guests to gather, work and discover all that Paris has to offer, the 163-room hotel is enviably located along Boulevard Haussmann, in the heart of Paris’ Opéra district. It is within walking distance to some of the city’s most famous landmarks, including the Louvre, Sacré-Cœur and Moulin Rouge.

Millennium & Copthorne Hotels Limited Executive Chairman Mr Kwek Leng Beng said, “People are in search of new and exciting experiences. M Social is all about creativity and passion. Combine this with the hotel’s central location and you have a winning formula to satiate travellers’ wanderlust. With Europe re-opening, this is an opportune time for us to introduce M Social to this key gateway city.”

France ended its curfew on its third national lockdown on 30 June, while indoor dining resumed earlier in June. Fully vaccinated travellers (with one of four EU-approved vaccines) from any country of departure can now enter France without submitting a PCR test.

A hub for global travellers

M Social, the brainchild of Mr Kwek, was designed as a trendsetter place that offers travellers a place to rest and play. The lifestyle concept embraces technology and allows people to socialise and interact with one another.

The first M Social – the 293-room M Social Singapore along Robertson Quay – launched in May 2016 to great fanfare and captured the imagination of locals and tourists alike. It boasts interiors envisioned by famed French designer Philippe Starck in the concept of “democratic design”. Spaces around the hotel are accessible and flexible enough to cater to different needs with seamless ease. It provides a contemporary and inviting space for locals, and a social base for travellers. It is also a departure from “cookie-cutter” hotels, focusing instead on aspects such as design, architecture and innovation, which are what Mr Kwek believes encompasses the beauty of hotels.

Mr Starck commented at the opening of M Social Singapore in 2016, “M Social is where all the elements of the world – including creativity, humour and love – come together in an explosion of energy to create the joy of today’s and tomorrow’s world. To me, it is a stage dedicated to creative people.”

M Social Paris Opera also marks the brand’s debut in Europe. This is the brand’s fourth property, and other than Singapore, it has two others located in Auckland (New Zealand) and New York City (USA). M Social outposts in in Suzhou, China and Sunnyvale, California, USA, are set to open in the near future, and more are in the pipeline to open in other countries and cities.

M Social Singapore’s Loft Premier Room offers a loft style hideaway for the chic and stylish, with an expansive ground-floor area for lounging, and a private upper mezzanine to retreat to at bedtime.

The Social Twin Room at M Social Auckland in New Zealand features wall-to-wall windows for sweeping views. Each floor in the Auckland hotel also has its own theme based on elements of local culture, such as fauna, marine life and literature.

Embracing ‘la merveille de Paris’

Guests at M Social Paris Opera can embrace ‘la merveille de Paris’, or the wonder of Paris, like a true Parisian. Spaces have been designed to be accessible, comfortable and practical to guests’ needs, with a touch of Parisian chic and the historical Art Deco style the hotel is known for.

Walk through the revolving door into the hotel’s Art Deco foyer and step back into the 1920s, with marble surfaces, ornate chandeliers and a glass-roofed cupola. StudioCaid, the creative architects behind the newly renovated areas, describes the design concept as an exchange of styles that emphasises the contrast between modern and classic. They have incorporated into the design the artistic styles of the surrounding iconic infrastructures, such as Opera Garnier and the Louvre to create the “Hotel of Today”.

Each room also holds a slice of history from Les Années Folles, or The Roaring Twenties, with the comfort of modern amenities and the future of M Social Paris Opera. Accommodation choices range from the cosy yet spacious Signature Rooms, to Grande Sweetie suites that offer separate living areas. Rooms offer either sweeping views overlooking Boulevard Haussmann, with breathtaking views of Opera Garnier or the Sacré-Cœur, or tranquil views of the hotel’s peaceful inner courtyard. Guests can experience wonder while wandering around Paris, and unwind away from the hustle and bustle of city life at the end of the day in timelessly stylish surroundings.
