Grand Shanghai
Reopens

After two decades of bringing authentic Shanghainese cuisine to Singapore, the refurbished Grand Shanghai Restaurant makes its highly anticipated return on 31 August with a new contemporary oriental interior, new menu and a new Master Chef, whilst creating a unique dining concept paying homage to the “Old Shanghai” of the 1930s.

Over 300 invited guests graced the re-opening event, with most of them decked out to the theme of “Old Shanghai glamour”, adding to the charm of Grand Shanghai’s “East meets West” dining atmosphere.

The lion dance kicked off the revelry with a bang and performed crowd-pleasing routines of leaps and jumps before rounding off with the traditional custom of cai qing (採青) to signify good fortune and prosperity.

Mr Andy Wong, Vice President, Food & Beverage Asia, Millennium Hotels and Resorts, explained, “After 20 years of success, we wanted to rebrand Grand Shanghai with a contemporary look and feel while maintaining its original Shanghainese authenticity and heritage. The refresh of our menu, interiors and dining experience is a seamless blend of traditional Chinese tastes with modern influences, celebrating a period in history where Shanghai was Asia’s thriving hub of art, design and entertainment.”
