After joining Millennium Hotels and Resorts in 2017, AURA, the hotel group’s Automated Room-Service Associate, has gotten a promotion. The front-of-house autonomous service delivery robot has now been given the added task of surveillance coverage.

AURA has been helping its Singapore hotels optimise operations and boost productivity by delivering towels, toiletries, bottled water and other amenities to guest rooms. She can operate and navigate her way to guest rooms independently, even riding the lift. This frees up the hotel team’s time so that they can focus on providing the personal, human touches that go into creating a positive hotel experience.

In the pilot programme at M Hotel, AURA’s functions have been newly expanded to include surveillance coverage. A scouting feature has been implemented, and the hotel’s Security Officers can view CCTV footage of the live coverage feeds remotely from the control room, concierge and reception.

M Hotel estimates that AURA’s new double-duty features have saved the security team 111 man-hours. The time saved allows the security staff to learn new skills to promote their work longevity, and also helps with the manpower crunch during high hotel occupancy periods or unexpected staff absences.
