Hong Leong Asia (HLA) has announced that its joint venture company, HL-Sunway JV Pte Ltd, has been awarded the contract for the Integrated Construction and Precast Hub No 5, by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA). The JV will be granted a 30 year lease (S$25.7 million) amounting on a 38,422 sqm land at Pulau Ponggol Barat to build the hub.
Pulau Punggol Barat is one of two islands of reclaimed land in the North East of Singapore.
HL-Sunway JV Pte Ltd was granted the contract due to their winning proposal to modernise Precast Concrete production and make it more efficient and less labour intensive than now.
A four-storey industrial building spanning a total floor area of 65,000 sqm will be equipped with ‘state-of-the-art’ machinery in Precast Concrete Production. The JV will produce the full range of precast components, including the Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction (PPVC) units. The robotic machinery will ensure a very high standard of accuracy and finish.
Construction of the facility will begin in early 2019 and complete in mid-2021.
HL-Sunway JV is a joint venture between HL-Building Materials Pte Ltd (HLBM) – a wholly owned subsidiary of HLA – and Sunway Concrete, a subsidiary of Malaysia-based Sunway Construction Group Berhad. HLBM has an equity stake of 51% while Sunway Concrete has 49% in the JV.
