Ms Wu Xi, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to New Zealand, the Cook Islands and Niue, was at M Social Auckland while on an overnight transit to Wellington for a bilateral visit. The ambassador stayed in the Ocean Suite located on the top floor of the hotel with panoramic views of the sparkling Waitemata Harbour.

“It was a sudden trip and Ambassador Wu was on a very tight schedule. But we ensured all VIP courtesies were in order and put together a welcome pack including petit fours, fresh fruit and a bespoke card signed by the team, for that warm and personal touch,” said General Manager Mr Nigel Edwards who was on hand to receive her at the lobby.

“We are very grateful to play host to the diplomatic community, furthering our core belief of interconnectedness and multiculturality,” said Mr Edwards.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between New Zealand and the People’s Republic of China over 45 years ago, bilateral relations between the two countries have been flourishing. This has become a model for China’s relations with developed countries.

Ambassador Wu expressed her thanks to the overseas Chinese community for their contributions over the years to the development of China-New Zealand relations. She affirmed that the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand, as always, would continue to provide quality services for the overseas Chinese community.
