Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur recently presented a brand new monthly recital series in collaboration with Allegro Music and Arts, a premier music centre with a trusted reputation for musical and artistic excellence in Kuala Lumpur. Dubbed as the Sunset Music Series, the event celebrates young local musicians whilst promoting the cultural appreciation of arts within the Malaysian society.
Held every first Sunday of the month, the inaugural concert featured a selected programme of piano and strings music by emerging soloists as young as 4 years old along with the Allegro String Ensemble. Among the compositions performed were Symphony No. 40 by Mozart, Palladio by K Jenkins, Jazz Walk by Martha Meir, Etude Op. 40 No. 1 by Lyadov, La Cinquantaine by G Marie, Polonaise by Carl Bohm and Malaysian classic Getaran Jiwa by P. Ramlee.
“Our primary purpose is to provide local musicians with a platform to realise their talents and express their creativity, and we are excited to offer them with an opportunity for artistic and professional growth by transplanting their studios into the heart of our hotel. We believe this initiative would help open more doors for them to build new relationships and meet potential collaborators,” said Mr. Peter Gibbons, General Manager of Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur.
