Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Awards 2018
CDL was accorded the WSH Developer Award by the WSH Council – testament to its efforts in engaging stakeholders to collectively build a strong Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) culture for over two decades. Since 2001, other than requiring all builders to have an accredited safety and health management system, CDL has been monitoring EHS performance through its 5-Star EHS Assessment System. In 2016, CDL galvanised 24 of its key builders and consultants to ‘Pledge Towards Zero Vision through Safe Design – Safe Practices – Safe Culture’ – a first for a developer. To enhance workers’ well-being holistically, CDL also introduced initiatives like distributing fortified rice to construction workers at its 2017 annual 5-Star EHS Awards – established in 2005 to recognise EHS excellence at its construction sites. Through its various EHS efforts, CDL maintained zero fatalities and occupational diseases at its construction sites in 2017.
CDL Group General Manager, Mr Chia Ngiang Hong, said, “Building a strong EHS culture is an ongoing journey. Over the years, through risk reviews and the monitoring of EHS performances, CDL has proactively encouraged our stakeholders to always adopt an EHS-conscious mindset. With their firm support, we have collectively maintained a high level of EHS performance. CDL will continue to engage our stakeholders to ensure that good systems and practices are in place to create a safer and healthier workplace.”
