Mr Basiron Bin Juhari, 47, a driver with Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore, recently clinched the Employee of the Year Award at an annual event jointly presented by Food, Drinks and Allied Workers Union (FDAWU), National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and Singapore Hotel Association (SHA).

With 30 years of service experience, Mr Basiron, known to his colleagues as Bas, has worked with Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel for approximately four years. Besides his duties to provide transportation services for guests and the team, he proactively helps and shares the workload with the Front Office team whenever he is available. Bas is the energy of the team. He cheers the team on and makes extra effort to interact with guests to make them feel welcomed.

Bas prides himself on his service and the rapport he establishes with guests and his colleagues.

Bas provides transportation service for guests and colleagues to and from Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel and their desired locations. He is familiar with the hotel services, features, activities and local attractions, and prides himself on the good rapport he has with guests. He is always seen as the hotel driver who goes the extra mile to ensure guests have a memorable experience during their stay at the hotel, the service that Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel is known for.

Launched in 1985, the award aims to encourage hotels to recognise deserving staff for their excellent performance and for their contribution to productivity at the workplace. Every year, hotels are invited to each nominate one employee who shows exemplary performance. This year's ceremony drew a record number, where Mr Basiron was among 86 hotel workers recognised by the industry.
