In commemoration of International Housekeeping Week in September, Bab Al Qasr Hotel & Residences in Abu Dhabi has launched its BAQ SuperVision Web-Application.

As part of its COVID-19 strategy, the hotel has decided to go beyond the fixed sanitation programme and developed a more futuristic approach in handling the daily tasks the Housekeeping team takes charge of.

The web application was developed in-house by Learning & Development Manager Mr Asela De Silva. It was created to encourage a performance-oriented culture, where supervisors can evaluate each ‘Room Stylist’s’ work and praise the best performers each month by nominating them in the ‘Best Employee of the Month’ Awards.

The main feature of this application consists of an interactive checklist which is backed by photographs. The aim is not to only maintain a high standard, but also to encourage staff to exceed guest expectations. Best practices will be implemented by colleagues and the go-beyond attitude is encouraged. Since the roll-out, it has proven to increase efficiency of the cleaning process, as it facilitates the communication between staff and guests.

The initiative is also in line with Bab Al Qasr’s Go-Green Programme, as it reduces printing checklist material by 20,000 pieces per year.
