Choice Awards

Hong Leong Finance earned a spot on the list for the first time.

It was a proud achievement for our Hong Leong companies – City Developments Limited (CDL), Hong Leong Finance (HLF) and Hong Leong Asia (HLA) – at the recent 19th Singapore Investors’ Choice Awards (SIAS).

Particularly for Hong Leong Finance (HLF). For the first time ever, HLF earned its spot and made a mark at the event which recognises companies for exemplary corporate governance standards and transparency approaches.

In fact, HLF beat other financial institutions including banks to clinch the “Runner Up” title for the ‘Most Transparent Company” in the Finance category.

According to the panel of judges, HLF scored top marks in transparency in key areas such as risk and remuneration disclosures, as well as timely financial reports and results announcements.

“This is a very proud moment for all of us. We are grateful for this award and we aim to continue to be more transparent to help our investors make informed decisions,” said a beaming Mr Ang Tang Chor, HLF President, who was at the event. HLF director Mr Kevin Hangchi received the award on behalf of the company.

Not to be outdone, sister companies City Developments Limited (CDL) and Hong Leong Asia (HLA) were also named “Most Transparent Company (Runner-Up)” in the Property and Manufacturing categories respectively.

In fact, this is the second consecutive year that property giant CDL has won the “Sustainability Award” since the category was first introduced in 2017. This award was jointly presented by SIAS and the Centre for Governance, Institutions and Organisations (CGIO) to recognise companies with substantial environment, social and governance reporting and practices.

HLA is also no stranger to SIAS Award. Last year, the manufacturing conglomerate received the “Transparency Award” for the Small & Mid Cap category, and was named “Most Transparent Company” for Mainboard Small Caps in 2016.
