Hong Leong Asia’s (HLA) Head of Sustainability and Corporate Affairs, Ms Kwek Pei Xuan, recently spoke at the SME and Infocomm Commerce Conference (SMEICC) 2025, held under the theme “A Shared Future: Business Reimagined.” The plenary session convened thought leaders and industry experts to explore how businesses can reimagine growth and resilience through innovation and sustainability in an increasingly complex global environment.

Speaking at the panel, Ms Kwek shared how stakeholder interest in HLA's ESG management intensified during the COVID-19 period, which became a key catalyst for the Group to accelerate its brown-to-green transition. She emphasised how this pivotal shift has guided HLA’s strategy to communicate its sustainability progress and embed long-term value creation into its core business model.

Ms Kwek joining fellow industry leaders on the panel to discuss sustainable and purpose-driven business. She shared her insights on aligning personal values with corporate vision to create a lasting positive impact for communities and future generations.

Ms Kwek also spoke on revitalising corporate purpose within HLA’s focused portfolio of traditional industries, notably in building materials and powertrain solutions. She outlined how the Group is driving transformation through sustainability targets and innovative initiatives, ensuring that these businesses evolve responsibly while continuing to deliver essential products and services to its stakeholders.

During the Q&A segment, participants expressed keen interest in HLA’s corporate governance processes and sustainability initiatives, particularly regarding how greener building materials are produced and their market adoption. Through her responses, Ms Kwek demonstrated the ways in which HLA’s commitment to transparency, responsible innovation, and stakeholder engagement is actively shaping and advancing the Group’s sustainable business transition.

HLA extends its appreciation to the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) for the invitation and for providing this valuable platform to share its vision, experiences, and learnings with peers and industry leaders.
