CDL Celebrates
Children’s Day
With Storytelling

In celebration of Children’s Day this year, CDL organised a virtual storytelling and activities session on 23 October in partnership with Tembusu CSR, one of Singapore’s leading enrichment programmes that focusses on sustainability education for children. Led by Tembusu CSR teacher Ms Jacinta Tan, the session was attended by over 200 participants, and showcased Tembusu CSR’s recently published book titled “The Adventures of Spikey the Hedgehog: A Plastic Disaster”.

The event comprised interactive storytelling and a scavenger hunt, where children were encouraged to hunt for items around their homes, followed by “The 3Rs Song” where they sang and danced along with Ms Tan.

During the event, Ms Tan engaged the children in an interactive lesson on the basics of recycling and waste reduction. Families present participated in a game of Kahoot!, with the top three winners of the game winning a copy of the original storybook by Tembusu CSR. 20 other lucky participants were also randomly selected to win a copy of the book.

The session wrapped up with Ms Tan showcasing additional, scannable activities at the end of the storybook for the children and their families to participate in. This includes a colouring of the Earth Heroes, online activities via the Tembusu CSR website, and platforms to submit ideas on how to use less plastic.

Youths today can shape the world of tomorrow. Through initiatives like this, CDL hopes that children and their families will be inspired to create a more sustainable future for all.
