The Biltmore Mayfair has reopened its doors as Europe’s first LXR Hotels & Resorts property – Hilton’s new luxury collection brand. The 307-room hotel unites 20th century grandeur with modern architectural details in the heart of Grosvenor Square in London.

“London is known as the city of dreams. It is among the world’s key centres for high fashion, arts and culture, good eats and luxury stays. Having secured a dream hotel like the Biltmore Mayfair back in 1996, I had to make sure the hotel lived up to the expectations of our guests,” said Kwek Leng Beng, Chairman of Millennium & Copthorne Hotels.

Mr Kwek worked closely with Hilton and London-based interior design firms, Goddard Littlefair and KCA International, studying various architectural and design concepts right up to the finished product. Costing £70 million, the renovation is aimed to add warmth and soul and inject classic glamour to the new designs.

The design approach was one that reflects a bygone sophisticated era where luxury is redefined with timeless architectural details, such as handcrafted unique metal lighting sculpture chandeliers, and Oriental elegance with the use of gold leaf wall coverings to decorate ceilings. Lighting, touch, texture, comfort, art and the environment, were also all considered carefully in the development of the design concept.

The all-day dining The Betterment Restaurant and Bar, helmed by Jason Atherton, is the hotel’s signature restaurant. He will also oversee food and beverage for the hotel's extensive event spaces. “We are delighted to be opening The Biltmore Mayfair, Europe’s first LXR Hotels & Resorts property, on London’s prestigious Grosvenor Square,” said Simon Vincent, President, EMEA, Hilton. “Bringing contemporary luxury to Mayfair, guests will experience outstanding hospitality, including dining by Chef Jason Atherton, in remarkable surroundings that truly capture the spirit of London and British luxury.”

Mr Kwek said, “We have created and spared no effort to make our F&B offerings an unforgettable experience for our guests.”

“The exceptional, singular service that is consistent with the LXR Hotels & Resorts brand, paired with the personalized attention offered by The Biltmore Mayfair is truly unparalleled,” said Feisal Jaffer, global head, LXR Hotels & Resorts. “We look forward to creating a distinctive sanctuary from where our guests can experience the best of London.”

The Biltmore Mayfair, LXR Hotels & Resorts is part of Hilton Honors, the guest-loyalty program for Hilton's 17 distinct hotel brands. The property is owned by Millennium & Copthorne Hotels (M&C) and managed by Hilton under a hybrid management-franchise agreement where M&C will have the option to manage after five years. In industry parlance, this type of agreement is referred to as ‘manchise’.
