GUANGXI Yuchai Machinery Company Limited (GYMCL), China Yuchai’s main operating subsidiary, announced that its K08 engine is the first diesel engine model to pass China’s National VI-b certification test.
The National VI standards are considered the most stringent and advanced emission certification test in China, combining best practices from both European and American regulatory requirements, in addition to creating its own. The China VI-b standards for heavy-duty vehicles introduces slightly more rigorous testing requirements and a remote emission monitoring system. This includes a reduction in nitrous oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) emission limits by around 70% from the earlier China V standard.
The certification for China Yuchai’s K08 model was conducted by the National Motor Vehicle Quality Supervision and Inspection Centre in Tianjin, China under full video surveillance. The inspection covered engine and after-treatment system preparation, engine test stand connection, engine emission certification test, On-Board Diagnostic test, NOx control certification test, and Portable Emission Measurement System certification.
