Food Safety

Two Dubai hotels also received HACCP certification for food safety

At the recent Middle East Cleaning, Hygiene & Facilities (MECHF) Awards, Millennium Atria Business Bay in Dubai was named Runner-Up for ‘Excellence in Kitchen/Food Safety’.

Handling food properly and safely is essential to preventing food-borne illnesses. As the lockdown brought on by COVID-19 forced guests to stay at home, the region’s food and beverage sector stepped up to ensure that guests could safely enjoy much-desired restaurant fare from the comfort of their homes. The award this year focused on how the hotel strategised and implemented practices during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Millennium Atria Business Bay is honoured to be shortlisted among the top leaders in hospitality that have committed to quality, exacting standards and rigorous training, to meet the new health and safety challenges presented by the pandemic environment. This includes vouching on high safety standards, ensuring safe and quality food, and sanitation and temperature management.

Since its inception in 2008, the MECHF Awards has been a celebration of success and excellence in the commercial and institutional cleaning, hygiene and soft food management industries in the Middle East region. The 2021 awards were held on 7 April.

It was all hands on deck for the team at Millennium Mont Rose that achieved the HACCP certification. Two sister properties in Dubai, Millennium Mont Rose and Millennium Al Barsha, who are managed as a cluster with Millennium Atria Business Bay, have also achieved the HACCP (hazard analysis and critical control points) certification for food safety, passing all related requirements for the hospitality sector. In the following year, these two Dubai hotels will also be eligible to be nominated at the MECHF 2022 Awards.
