Salute to an inspirational role-model! As Millennium Biltmore’s honourable guest, World War II veteran Mr Sidney Walton was invited to our employee town hall meeting held on March 28. He shared his life story, which was very inspiring to all staff attendees.
Mr Walton is 100 years old and is one of America’s oldest WWII veterans. He enlisted in the US Army nine months before the Pearl Harbour attack. Originally slated to fight in Europe, he sustained an injury and was unable to go, and after his recovery served for the remainder of the war as a medic in India.
When he was younger, he had the chance to meet some of the few remaining veterans still alive from the American Civil War era (1861-1865). But the opportunity was missed and he deeply regretted it.
To make up for that moment, he embarked on a “No Regrets Tour”, targeting to visit every state capital to meet all 50 US governors and millions of patriotic Americans, and to raise awareness about the dwindling number of surviving WWII veterans.
Mr Walton also enjoyed a stay at the Millennium Biltmore, and attended the 2019 Opening Day game of baseball team Los Angeles Dodgers at the Dodger Stadium.
