Copthorne Dubai
Takes ‘Thyme’
To Plant A
Herb Garden

A few months ago, Copthorne Dubai decided to embark on a herb garden project. The idea, which came from General Manager Mr Glenn Nobbs, was to help restore a sustainable ecosystem, and also provide a supply of fresh, quality herbs and vegetables to the hotel kitchen.

The team, which is led by Mr Suku Bhasi from the Stewarding Department, planted basil, coriander, cherry tomatoes, eggplants and thyme.

Managing a herb garden is not easy, and requires know-how on the best types of seeds to plant, best types of soil to use, and when to harvest or prune. Mr Suku Bhasi has a green thumb, and is passionate about gardening. He shared his knowledge with the team, and helped to create planter boxes from wooden crates, and regularly visiting the garden before and after his shift to tend to it.

After a waiting period, the team has finally reaped its first harvest!
