Industry Partnership

Copthorne Tara Hotel London Kensington has taken a proactive step in nurturing future hospitality professionals through a partnership with North Kent College, hosting a series of structured work placements for students and young adults. The programme is designed to provide participants with first-hand exposure to hotel operations, offering a comprehensive and practical understanding of life in the hospitality industry.

Through these placements, participants are given the opportunity to experience the hotel from multiple perspectives. From witnessing the pace and coordination required during a busy breakfast service, to supporting the Front Office team and engaging with guests, students gain insight into the operational excellence that underpins the guest experience. In addition, participants take part in an introductory Human Resources programme, where they are exposed to key HR functions such as payroll processes, recruitment, and the day-to-day responsibilities of an HR team.

Beyond operational learning, the partnership reflects Copthorne Tara’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and community engagement. By opening its doors to young people at an early stage of their careers, the hotel is playing an active role in supporting skills development while contributing to the long-term sustainability of the hospitality talent pipeline.

Noemi received her certificate after completing her placement at the hotel. Her achievement recognises not only her dedication and professionalism during the programme, but also the hotel’s continued investment in developing future hospitality talent.

The success of the programme is already evident. The hotel’s first placement student, Noemi Nieniara, quickly distinguished herself through her enthusiasm, professionalism and willingness to learn. Her performance during the placement led to her securing both a permanent role and an apprenticeship at Copthorne Tara, a significant milestone that highlights the programme’s potential to create real career opportunities.

As Copthorne Tara continues to invest in people and partnerships, initiatives such as this work placement programme demonstrate how early engagement, practical learning and supportive mentorship can help shape the next generation of hospitality professionals, while strengthening the organisation for the future.
