Millennium Hotels and Resorts (MHR) is delighted to announce the appointment of Aroha Matthews as the new General Manager of Kingsgate Hotel Autolodge Paihia at Bay of Islands, New Zealand.

Aroha Matthews first joined the group in June 2021 as Operations Manager at Copthorne Bay of Islands, located just a short distance from Kingsgate Hotel Paihia. During her first year and a half, she stepped into the Acting General Manager role, earning recognition for her capability, hands-on leadership, and people-focused approach.

In December 2022, Aroha took on a Relief General Manager role, travelling nationwide to support a diverse range of properties. This experience allowed her to hone her operational expertise, strengthen teams across the country, and contribute to key projects wherever she was needed. Most recently, Aroha served as General Manager of Copthorne Hotel Greymouth for two successful years. There, she led initiatives that elevated the hotel’s profile, drawing both travellers and locals to the hotel and its restaurant.

Returning to Paihia brings her closer to her roots and whānau, and her deep knowledge of the Bay of Islands and Northland community is expected to be a significant asset as she leads Kingsgate Hotel Paihia into its next chapter of growth and excellence.
