The Lunar New Year festivities came early for 70 senior beneficiaries at Hong Leong Foundation’s annual charity event, held at M Hotel Singapore earlier today. The elderly participants aged 65 to 100 years from St. John’s Home for Elderly Persons and Kheng Chiu Loke Tin Kee Home, enjoyed a vibrant programme featuring the waltz, cha-cha, and rhythmic movement exercises, guided by professional instructors from The DanceSport Academy.
The dance activities were specially designed to accommodate varying mobility levels, allowing all seniors to participate either standing or seated, in a safe and inclusive environment. The celebrations continued with a lively karaoke session, where participants sang along and clapped enthusiastically to familiar tunes. Guests were also treated to a sumptuous buffet lunch and received goody bags filled with festive treats to take home.

The event brought together 120 participants, including 50 staff volunteers from the Hong Leong Group of companies. These volunteers represented City Developments Limited (CDL), Millennium Hotels and Resorts (MHR), Hong Leong Holdings Limited (HLHL), Hong Leong Finance (HLF), Hong Leong Asia (HLA), and Hong Realty.
“Our annual charity event is about bringing joy, connection, and well-being to our elderly. Seeing their faces light up as they share laughter and dance with our volunteers, reminds us of the power of community and the importance of social connection with those in need,” said Mr Kingston Kwek, a governor of Hong Leong Foundation and one of the organisers behind the event.
