With Festive Packs

On 23 January 2021, in its sixth year of collaboration with North West CDC, Limbang Grassroots and Regent Secondary School, 40 CDL volunteers – through its employee volunteer platform City Sunshine Club (CSC) – came together to distribute WeCare Festive Packs to some 270 needy households in Limbang. Having fostered meaningful friendships with residents at these rental blocks over the years, the volunteers were excited to be back once again for WeCare @ North West – Service Weeks.

Joined by Guest-of-Honour, Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Limbang, Mr Lawrence Wong, CDL volunteers led by CDL Group General Manager (GGM) Mr Chia Ngiang Hong, stepped in with faith and perseverance to do good in the community, ushering in cheer and warmth in the quiet neighbourhood.

After a pre-event briefing, temperature taking and health declaration at their respective blocks, volunteers were further divided into groups of five to distribute festive goodies pre-packed by students of Regent Secondary School. This year, CDL topped up the festive packs with essential items such as shampoo, body wash, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste.

“This year has been challenging. Some of these lower-income and elderly residents have lost their jobs or are feeling lonely as a result of social distancing. By our being here today with the WeCare festive packs, we want to let them know that they are not forgotten – and that we are rooting for them,” said CSC President Ms Foo Chui Mui.

“It is a privilege to be in a position to help, and work with people equally passionate about the same cause,” she added.

Despite having to adhere to safe distancing management measures, and minimal contact with the residents, CDL’s volunteers enjoyed a meaningful afternoon bringing smiles to each household.
