CDL has secured planning consent for the redevelopment of two land sites — the former Stag Brewery site in Mortlake and 28 Pavilion Road in Knightsbridge.

Imbuing vibrancy into the Mortlake site

Dubbed the largest scheme in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, the former Stag Brewery site in Mortlake clinched planning consent from the planning committee for its redevelopment plan in January this year. The mega mixed-use development proposes to provide residential units, a care village with a care home and assisted living accommodation, flexible floor space for various commercial, community and leisure use, a new secondary school alongside new open and green spaces.

The 22-acre site, which was acquired by CDL in 2015, is at an excellent location right beside River Thames and it is just moments from the rapid train link to central London.

Executive Chairman of CDL Mr Kwek Leng Beng said, “This is a very positive outcome. Through active engagement with the stakeholders, we are glad to create a scheme that will value add to the community and it will become an iconic development in Central London. The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames is one of the most desirable locations to live, work and play with its history, picturesque river views and abundant greenery.”

Icon in the making

The Pavilion Road site will be transformed into a luxury boutique hotel with 120 rooms.

Also in January, in-principle planning consent to transform the existing car park building at Pavilion Road, Knightsbridge to a luxury boutique hotel has been granted by The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

Designed by PRP + Hamiltons, the strikingly designed hotel will provide 120 rooms with floor space for health club, restaurant and retail outlets. The site is located in the heart of Knightsbridge, just minutes away from the iconic department store, Harrods and Knightsbridge Underground station.

“This site offers CDL one of the best opportunities to develop an outstanding hotel in one of the prime locations in central London. We are tremendously excited by this and the value it will bring to our London portfolio and our valued clients. London is the most popular tourist destination in the world, attracting around 30 million visitors every year from all over the world,” said Mr Kwek.
