Amidst the increased competition and growing hospitality industry in Manchester, The Lowry Hotel is upping the luxury stakes. Manchester’s premier five-star hotel The Lowry Hotel, has launched its newly renovated Presidential Suite, the largest accommodation in the region at just under 2,000 square feet.

With a colour palette of tonal colours from burnt oranges to off-whites and textured blue-greys, the redesigned space has a lounge with a mini grand piano, and a separate dining area for up to eight people.

The penthouse suite, famous for its VIP guests, will cost £4,000 per night. The stunning new look, designed by architects Goddard Littlefair, provides a residential feel and includes a complete reconfiguration and redesign of the space. The new place features an enlarged dressing room and a new bespoke marble bathroom with a double shower, steam room and free-standing bath, super king-size bedroom, a walk-in dressing room, and lounge plus a dining room for up to eight people. There is also an additional second bedroom and with adjoining bathroom.

The new penthouse apartment features a super king-size master bedroom and second bedroom, both of which have floor to ceiling windows that overlook River Irwell.

Inspiration for the suite was taken from Manchester’s industrial history, in particular cotton weaving, and the city’s industrial forms. For example, the shape of Trinity Bridge over River Irwell located right outside the hotel, is mirrored in the bespoke fretwork panelling and even the glassware and crockery. The dressing room, with a large anthracite velvet ottoman, is dominated by tiered feature light made of threads, is inspired by Manchester’s cotton production history. The colours, which range from rich bronzes and burnt oranges to off-whites and textured blue-greys, were inspired by the colour palette of English artist L.S. Lowry, the hotel’s namesake.

The key centrepiece of the walk-in dressing room is a tiered feature light made of threads, which is inspired by Manchester’s cotton production history.

The luxurious marble bathroom features a double shower, steam room and free-standing bath.

The suite has played hosts to presidents, prime ministers and royalty, including People’s Republic of China President Mr Xi Jinping and his wife Madam Peng, and past UK prime ministers. A-list celebrities who have previously enjoyed a stay in the suite include rapper Pharrell Williams, pop icon Rihanna, Irish star Bono, boxing legend Muhammad Ali, and Grammy award-winner Lady Gaga, who famously had one of her tattoos done in the room.

Chart-topping songs have been penned in the suite, which boasts a baby grand piano, and over 20 television shoots have taken place in the apartment which offers panoramic views over the city, from British dramedy Cold Feet in 2001, to a new yet-to-be-launched Netflix series in the refurbished penthouse.
