Earlier this year, Millennium Hotels and Resorts (MHR) in UK joined other local employers for a career fair at Ruislip High School in West London.

Regional HR Director for Europe Ms Barbara Murphy, Millennium Gloucester/The Bailey’s Cluster HR & Development Manager Ms Clare Dardis, and myself had the opportunity to meet with 700 students and share with them about what we do as a hotel company and the career opportunities that exist in the industry.

The students are preparing for their national examinations and college, and this fair was a good time to get them thinking about their future careers. We shared about the many various career paths from front- and back-of-house operations to centralised and support functions, and how recruitment works for the various teams. We also shared about how many hotel staff have progressed through the ranks into senior roles, either staying with their respective hotels within MHR, or travelling to various destinations within the hotel group, which operates in many regions around the world.

We are looking forward to hosting some students at Millennium Gloucester this month and giving them a behind-the-scenes insight to what we do at MHR!
