Millennium Hotels and Resorts is now pleased to offer Chinese guests the ability to pay for accomodations and dining via WeChat Pay at all six Singapore properties—Orchard Hotel Singapore, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore, M Hotel Singapore, Studio M Hotel Singapore, M Social Singapore and Copthorne King’s Hotel Singapore.
In addition to being one of the world’s top economies, China is one of Singapore’s top tourism markets. More than 2.7 million Chinese visited Singapore from January to October 2017, representing almost one-fifth of all visitor arrivals, according to Singapore Tourism Board’s January 2018 figures. In the first half of 2017, the Chinese accounted for almost 18 per cent of tourism receipts in Singapore, positioning them to be the top-spenders in Singapore for the third year in a row. Millennium Hotels and Resorts in Singapore also welcomes a growing number of Chinese visitors in its properties year on year.
WeChat Pay is one of the leading mobile payment solutions in China and is actively used by some 600 million users every month, with the numbers rising all the time. WeChat Pay enables increasingly mobile Chinese tourists to pay conveniently at the point of sale.
Mr Lee Richards, Vice President Operations Millennium Hotels and Resorts, South East Asia, said, “In offering WeChat Pay, we hope to enhance the stay experience of our Chinese guests by making payment easier and more efficient for them. This is the first in a series of initiatives we are implementing to continue to grow our appeal to Chinese travellers.”
Millennium Hotels and Resorts continues to embrace technology throughout our properties. From signature award-winning service robots AUSCA and AURA to online booking platforms and digital service providers, the group continues to look at other avenues to improve guest experience through technological innovation. Alipay is now accepted as an online payment mode, where Chinese travellers can conveniently pay for their accommodations at Millennium Hotels and Resorts; and will be made available offline by June 2018.
