MHR in New Zealand recently donated 317 uniform items (or 109 kg of clothing material) from several of its hotel properties to Dress for Success, a charity that empowers women to achieve economic independence through professional attire, career coaching and employment support. The organisation equips women with the confidence and tools needed to enter and thrive in the workforce.

The donation comprised a range of new, unused, non-branded uniform items, including jackets, shirts, trousers, and skirts, which were no longer required following uniform updates across the New Zealand properties. Instead of being sent to landfill, these items have been given a new purpose, supporting women as they prepare to enter or re-enter the workforce.

Copthorne Auckland City (left photo) was among the hotels that contributed to the donation. Housekeeping Supervisor Ms Lagi Anamani is pictured with Ms Kennedy (right photo) as they loaded the boxes into a car.

The initiative demonstrates how simple sustainability efforts can deliver meaningful outcomes by reducing waste, lowering disposal costs, and creating positive social impact within the community.

MHR New Zealand continues to explore opportunities to donate surplus items and investigate recycling solutions for returned uniforms that are no longer suitable for wear, further supporting its commitment to waste reduction and responsible resource management.
