For two big Chelsea FC (football club) fans, they had the chance to celebrate both their relationship and their love for the football team at a special Chelsea Romantic Wedding at Millennium Chengdu.

The couple previously lived in two cities, Beijing and Guangzhou (which are over 2,000 km apart), and met eight years ago because of their mutual support for Chelsea FC. The relationship then grew, and the couple finally wedded on 2 June after eight years of dating.


The newlyweds Ms Fan Wenyuan and Mr Wang Zhe with the Millennium Chengdu team that helped to put together the wedding (L-R): Front Office Manager Mr Eric Xu; Sales Manager Mr Carl Shu; Assistant Food & Beverage Manager Mr Jason Song; and Director of Engineering Mr Charlie Yang.

Guests were presented with a special football themed afternoon tea spread, with cakes and desserts decorated with miniature Chelsea FC player fondant toppers.

The ballroom at Millennium Chengdu was specially decorated with a Blues theme for the couple. To mark the special occasion, Chelsea FC and Millennium Hotels and Resorts (MHR) also presented the couple with jerseys signed by all the frontline players, as well as a special video message by player David Luiz.

“Mr Wang Zhe and Ms Fan Wenyuan, I’m here to wish you all the best on your wedding day. Enjoy this day, because it’s going to be the best day of your life,” said the Brazilian midfielder in the video.
