M Social Auckland will be welcoming its first ever wedding couple this January, in support of a local couple who saw their wedding venue cancelled after the restaurant double-booked itself.

Ms April Shaw and fiancé Mr Bobby Paul told The New Zealand Herald were only informed that their wedding reception could no longer be held at their booked venue just two weeks before their wedding date.

Many offers for venues and other wedding-related services poured in from generous businesses, one of which was M Social Auckland, who wanted to help the devastated couple. The hotel offered exclusive use of its award-wining restaurant Beast & Butterflies, and complimentary accommodation for the bridal couple. This is the first time that M Social Auckland will be hosting a wedding reception.

M Social General Manager Mr Nigel Edwards said he was happy to do something good for a lovely couple, “Basically it is the spirit of good hospitality. Weddings are stressful enough without this situation occurring at the last moment so being part of the community and being able to help is what we do as a hotel.”

"We did not expect any significant follow-up or want to grandstand, it will be just a pleasure to provide a fantastic celebration for them and their family. The whole team is behind this and excited to host this event... they are in very good hands. "
