The Accounting Service Centre (ASC) team from Millennium Hotels and Resorts’ (MHR) head office in Horley, England, recently reached out to a charity close to their hearts and homes for the Christmas period, lending their support to the homeless and vulnerable youths living in supported housing.
The team first reached out to YMCA in support of their Love in a Box project, where individuals and organisations could provide a shoebox of presents to homeless young persons aged 16 to 25 living in supported housing. In addition to the list of suggested items provided by the organisation, such as supermarket vouchers, socks, gloves and scarves, the team put themselves in the shoes of the youths and filled the boxes with even more items such as entertainment items, toiletries and treats. These boxes were then wrapped up as gifts and donated to the YMCA in Crawley in England.
The ASC team’s generosity also overflowed as they collected too many items to fit into the ten boxes, that they also donated the collected items to Crawley Open House, such as biscuits, chocolates, mince pies, drinking mugs, and socks and gloves.
YMCA is a worldwide organisation that provides services focused on youth development. In the UK, they predominantly provide accommodation for vulnerable and homeless youths, as well as personal, social and educational services. Crawley Open House is a charity that provides accommodation to homeless young adults above 18.
