As part of its continued fundraising efforts for its adopted charity Henry Dancer Days, Copthorne Newcastle held a ‘Great Bake-Off’ for the month of November. The bake-off had staff from various hotel departments (not just food and beverage!) participating with their own cake creations. Other hotel staff lent their support by purchasing cake slices from their colleagues.
There was a total of 39 entries, and over 350 cake slices sold, raising nearly £200 for the charity. The event also saw the unleashing of creativity, with an array of cakes and desserts prepared, such as Mars Bar Cake, Cheese & Garlic Scones, Apple & Feta Biscuits and Ginger Cake. However, based on popular vote, Mr Michael Clark from the Housekeeping department won the title of Best Cake with his Coconut Cake.
Henry Dancer Days is a non-profit organisation that supports children and youths with primary bone cancer and their families. It disburses grants to beneficiaries to help with expenses such as transport costs or palliative care.
