Millennium Hotels and Resorts (MHR) in New Zealand is a proud supporter of this year’s Aon Yachting Excellence Awards.

The awards recognise high performance excellence in sailing, from Optimists (sailing boats for beginners) to offshore boats. But it is also an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication and resilience of its club members throughout the year, according to Chief Executive of Yachting New Zealand Mr David Abercrombie.

Sailing is one of New Zealand's most successful Olympic sports in one of the most beautiful sailing destinations of the world. Sailing (often also referred to as yachting) features races between boats that use sails powered by the wind.

Special rates at MHR New Zealand properties are regularly offered to the organiser, Yachting New Zealand, and in turn, MHR receives continuing promotional exposure across New Zealand’s yachting fraternity as they travel the world and compete on the world stage.

The ‘Millennium Hotels and Resorts Official of the Year Award’ went to Alistair Deaves from Wakatere Boating Club, a family sailing club founded in 1926. The club is located at Narrow Neck Beach in Auckland.

As Mr Deaves was unable to attend the event, a representative from Wakatere Boating Club accepted the award on his behalf. She is pictured here with Mr Stuart Harrison, Managing Director for Millennium & Copthorne Hotels New Zealand Limited (MCK).
