At the recent Singapore Corporate Awards (Special Edition), Hong Leong Asia (HLA) was among seven winners of the Corporate Excellence & Resilience Award for the mid-cap category.
HLA Chief Executive Officer Mr Stephen Ho said, “This award is a recognition of our staff in Singapore, Malaysia and China who have made important sacrifices during this unprecedent time of a global health crisis to keep the business running and our customers happy. It is by no means a small feat in the construction and transportation sectors where our people are called upon to deliver quality and reliability everyday. There is little doubt that this pandemic will continue to challenge us and our supply chain for some time to come. But we see this as an opportunity to transform ourselves with automation and digitalizing our businesses, and to shift gears toward green energy solutions and sustainable building materials that will be needed for the cities of the future.”
In a year set in a new normal, the awards sought to honour firms that have tackled the disruption to business-as-usual and stayed resilient during the pandemic. During the panel interview, HLA shared about its Vision 2025 and new core values in which the Group’s heritage and foundational principles have continued to play a vital role. The new vision, set out in 2020, sees the Group working closely with its customers to develop and deliver sustainable and innovative urban solutions for cities of the future. The Group also discussed the resilience of its supply chain and people throughout the pandemic, and how it is gearing up for automation and digitalisation initiatives as well as a sustainability strategic roadmap to prepare for greater disruption ahead.
Launched in 2005, the awards are organised by the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants, Singapore Institute of Directors and The Business Times, and recognise exemplary corporate governance practices in Singapore’s listed companies.
