At the end of October, Millennium Mayfair launched an exclusive art partnership in its Avista restaurant with the showcase of ‘The Journey Begins’. In collaboration with Tanya Baxter Contemporary, the new exhibition features work by the prominent Burmese artist Min Wae Aung. The art pieces will act as an additional draw into the fine dining restaurant, on show for one month and all available to purchase.

Min Wae Aung is one of Myanmar’s most celebrated artists and his work is exhibited and collected internationally. He is best known for his stylised paintings of Buddhist monks in vibrant colours that convey a sense of calm; leaving humanity behind and going to “a peaceful place, like Nirvana.” Min Wae Aung is a practicing Buddhist and his paintings depict a very integral part of Buddhist life, which is all about simplicity. Min Wae beautifully captures the daily journey of people with few resources, who depend on themselves to live.
