To celebrate its 57th anniversary, the Real Estate Developers’ Association of Singapore (REDAS) organised a special anniversary dinner in November 2016. Themed “Visioning Future, Building Forward”, the dinner was graced by Minister for National Development and Second Minister for Finance, Mr Lawrence Wong, and was held at Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore.

At the anniversary dinner, several awards were given out to industry leaders to recognise their contributions to the real estate industry, including the Honorary Award to the late Mr Kwek Leng Joo, former CDL Deputy Chairman, for his dedication and contribution to the Association as well as his deep commitment to corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability.

The late Mr Kwek had served on the REDAS Management Committee for 14 years, from 1981 to 1994, and during his tenure as REDAS President in 1989 to 1990, had initiated the REDAS’ Research & Education Fund to provide avenues for the Association to undertake research programmes, award scholarships, bursaries, gold medals and book prizes to various institutes of higher learning. The award was received by Mr Kwek Eik Sheng, CDL Chief Strategy Officer and Mr Brian Kwek, sons of the late Mr Kwek.

CDL Group General Manager, Mr Chia Ngiang Hong, also received the REDAS Luminary Service Award, which is given to industry leaders who have served on REDAS’ management committee for more than 15 years.
