Mooncakes

Marking the end of the autumn harvest, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a time of year that the moon is at its brightest. Many legends surround this festival but one popular tale concerns the Han Chinese's uprising against the ruling Mongols at the end of the Yuan dynasty (1280–1368 CE), in which the Han Chinese used traditional mooncakes to conceal the message that they were to rebel on Mid-Autumn Day.

Whichever the legend, making and sharing mooncakes is one of the hallmark traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival. In Chinese culture, a round shape symbolises completeness and reunion. Thus, the sharing and eating of round mooncakes among family members during the week of the festival signifies the completeness and unity of families.

This Mid-Autumn Festival, savour sweet reunions with family and friends with a collection of signature baked and snowskin mooncakes crafted from the finest ingredients.
