Bake Off
Last month, Copthorne Birmingham kickstarted its fundraising partnership with Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity with the ‘Copthorne Birmingham Bake Off’.
About eight staff took part in the baking competition, vying for the top prize to win a baking hamper. They made an array of baked goods such as cakes, cookies and pies, which were presented to over 50 colleagues at the hotel’s Big Tea Party. Donations were collected through the “selling” of the cakes, and General Manager Mr Simon Doyle was the judge for the bake off.
Receptionist Ms Jacqueline Morgan took home the first prize of a baking hamper for her banana cake, a favourite among her family members. Breakfast Supervisor Ms Dulcie Simpson-Riley came in second for her banana and walnut cake with rum buttercream, while Finance Assistant Ms Paulina Kolcon, who is known as the baker of the team among colleagues, came in third with a blackcurrant cake with fresh cream.
Staff are aiming to raise over £1,000 in the coming year, and all funds raised will go towards the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, which supports patients and service users, their families and carers, and staff at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
