Millennium Harvest House Boulder Hotel Manager Ms Kate Bleakley and Maingate Lakeside Resort Director of Operations Mr Wesley Bowser attended the General Managers Programme (GMP) at Cornell University earlier this year in Ithaca, New York.

GMP is by the School of Hotel Administration, one of the world's leading hospitality-management school and the oldest such school in the United States. The two-week programme focused on strategic thinking, finance, asset management and brand management, such as ‘Creating Sustainable Competitive Advantage’ and ‘Financial Management for Value Creation’. Targeted at hotel management executives, each intake is limited to 25 participants.

The learning experience allows participants to gain an invaluable connection to an international network of elite hoteliers, and affiliate membership in Cornell's extensive alumni network of over 12,000 School of Hotel Administration graduates.

Ms Bleakley shared, “It gave me a complete new perspective on how to be a strategic thinker and what it means and takes to build strong teams. I'm excited to work on implementing what I have learned.”

“After attending Cornell's General Managers Programme, I have gained a new appreciation for the industry I chose to enter 21 years ago,” said Mr Bowser. “Engaging with hospitality professionals from around the world and learning from top Cornell professors allowed me to broaden my knowledge in this discipline.”
