The LA Press Club's highest honour, the coveted Joseph M. Quin Award for Lifetime Achievement, was recently presented to NBC anchor, Mr Lester Holt at the Los Angeles Press Club’s 60th Annual Southern California Journalism Awards. Over 500 guests attended the event hosted by the historic The Biltmore Los Angeles in the famed Crystal Ballroom.
A journalist for nearly 40 years, Mr Holt is the anchor for the weekday edition of NBC Night News and Dateline NBC. He moderated the first Presidential debate of 2016 between then Presidential candidates, Ms Hilary Clinton and Mr Donald Trump. He was also in Singapore to anchor the live reporting of the historic Trump-Kim summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Country music legend Ms Dolly Parton was also honoured with the Bill Rosendahl Public Service Award. She donated over 100 million books to children through the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. Inspired by her own father's illiteracy, the programme reaches out to children in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.
Los Angeles Press Club is an American journalism organisation founded in 1913. It honours journalists across various media platforms in Southern California through its annual National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Awards and SoCal Journalism Awards.
