Each year, the Belgium American Club Chicago hosts events for the Belgian community in the city. This year, the club held its annual dinner at Millennium Knickerbocker Chicago.

As a Belgian citizen and the first Belgian hotel general manager in Chicago, Mr Niek Mestdagh’s close ties with the Belgium club helped the hotel to clinch the business.

The dinner itself also challenged the culinary team to create a menu celebrating Belgian cuisine with an American twist. The event was a huge success with delicious food and esteemed Belgian guests in attendance, including Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Belgium Mr Paul Van Halteren and President and CEO of Madame Delluc artisan chocolates.

The culinary team created a special menu with American twists on classic Belgian dishes, such as the Belgian Beef and Stew (left), with braised chuck steak in Belgian beer broth with celery, carrots, onions and potatoes, and Roasted Fuji Apple Salad (right), a mix of Tuscan greens, Belgian endives, roasted Fuji apples, walnuts and goat cheese.
