The Special
Olympics 2019

Grand Millennium Al Wahda had the honour of hosting delegates and their families, who were in the city for the Abu Dhabi 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games. The Games, which were held from March 14 to 21, is the world’s largest humanitarian sporting event, a global movement which focuses on empowering people with intellectual disabilities through the power of sport.

The hotel, located in of downtown Abu Dhabi, hosted the athletes, their families and supporters from countries such as Cote D’Ivoire, France, Germany, Lebanon, Russia and Slovakia.

Grand Millennium Al Wahda General Manager Mr Enad Tannous said, “It has been a truly remarkable and memorable experience to be part of this Global event which took place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and a great pleasure to host the teams at our Hotel.”

The Special Olympics World Summer Games is in its 15th year, and saw over 7,000 athletes from 170 countries compete in 24 different individual and team sports, such as beach volleyball and powerlifting.
