Millennium Airport Dubai has been awarded the Green Key, an eco-label for tourism and leisure establishments.

Managed by Emirates Green Building Council, the award recognises establishments that have fulfilled certain environmental requirements, is environmentally responsible and has sustainable operations within the tourism industry.

Millennium Airport Dubai General Manager Mr Simon Moore said, “We are proud to be a part of the Green Key Eco Rating Programme. At Millennium Airport Dubai, we understand that our business activities impact the earth, our resources, and people’s lives, and we will continue to leverage our sustainability programmes and Green Key environmental ideas to conserve resources, preserve natural habitats, and prevent pollution.”

As part of the initiative, the hotel has outlined some key focus areas and best practices that include excellent performance in energy conservation and efficiency, leadership in waste management, strong commitment to sustainability, proactive community involvement, working hand-in-hand with guests, and an ongoing green educational programme.  

The hotel staff also took part in the Dubai Cares Walk for Education in mid-February. In its tenth year, the walk aims to spread awareness about the importance of providing children and youths with safe access to school. Nearly 30 hotel staff took part in the walk, clocking 4,000 steps at Dubai Creek Park.

Mr Moore said, “We feel privileged to raise awareness about the value and importance of education through our participation. It is an opportunity for all of us to contribute in a purposeful way in the global educational development efforts.”

Dubai Cares is a UAE-based global philanthropic organisation aimed to provide access to quality education for children and young people in developing countries.
